Club Assembly was the 8th...and listening to our Presidential reports was Bill Stanney, a guest and prospective member, invited by the Wheelocks.
Adam indicated that our Club efforts will be driven by the economy...starting with the Community Service Committee coordinating referrals for aid. $7000 has been earmarked for our emergency oil fund.
Another consideration suggested was increasing our involvement with Community Meals on wednesday from 2x a year to 4x a year. Advise Adam with your thoughts on this.
July 15, back with us was Bill Stanney, whose membership will go forward hearing nothing otherwise.
Always a welcome speaker: Jean Langley bringing us up -to-date on the progression of the Library building. Looks good. Entrance off the parking lot. A meeting room that can accomodate up to 100 people. Childrens' section triple in size. Smaller conference with separate entrance allowing for "after hours" use. Computer lab for classes and regular use. Internet cafe'
looking out on Main Street. Hopefully open in January. Furnishings
now the challenge as not
in the budget. (Don't we have connections through Rotary with
Rottmans?)
tHE BERKSHIRES...August 3rd...Lessner's cottage. It is worth trip, of course for the company, as well as the view; music; quaint shops;
hiking ??? Bring a bite to supplement the grille offerings.
If anyone has any speaker ideas for August please share them with Bruce Bender or Speaker Bureau (nwberglund@verizon.net).
Birthdays coming up this month are July 27 - Doris Walsh. July 30 -
Jean Bianchi
